The present paper explores the patterns of intergenerational educational mobility in Greece and its changes for di fferent birth cohorts born between 1930 and 1976. More speci cally, we investigate the transmission of educational attainments from both father and mother through generations and over time. The main purpose is to trace the transitions of individuals between educational categories and to determine the relationship between an individual's education class and the class of his or her parents. Based on data drawn from ESS (2002-2010), our analysis provides Markov transition probability matrices and the absolute and relative mobility rates, by comparing the di fferent rounds of the survey.
