The design and coordination of the European Social Survey is undertaken by a team of experts from a consortium of institutions. The lead partner is the Centre for Comparative Social Surveys, City University London, UK. The Centre was established at City in 2003 by its Founding Director Roger Jowell, who led it until his death in December 2011. The current complement of staff is:
