In 2006 ESS commenced a programme of activities to improve, expand and integrate the diverse networks and infrastructures that already existed, all with the goal of achieving a sustained improvement in European quantitative social science. Many of the work packages funded through the ESS Infrastructure ('ESSi') feed directly into the continuing enhancement of the survey as it moves into its fifth round.
